I read with some satisfaction the judgement of Justice Lambo Akanbi in which he summarily, and with extreme prejudice, ordered the nullification of the election/appointment of Aliko Dangote as the President of the Nigerian Stock Exchange.
In his highlly critical ruling in a case brought by African Petroleum and others, the court castigated the directors and members of the Stock Exchange and their board for disobeying outstanding court orders and for appointing Aliko Dangote as President of the Nigerian Stock Exchange in defiance of a pending order of court.
This ruling is singulalry impressive because it signals to everybody that nobody is above the law. The judge stood up for the rule of law and gave hope to the Nigerian people that the judiciary still has their back when it comes to lawless super 'big men'.
I say kudos to the judge, the Nigerian judiciary and the plaintiffs who were bold enough to challenge the lawless activity. I say 'shame' on ALiko Dangote and those people who thought they could do what they like simply because they have money and powerful friends.
I hope they charge Aliko and others for comtept of court and throw the lot in jail if only for one day to show them how to show respect for the law!
